Jacklynn D. Apgar

May 31, 1979 — December 25, 2014

Jacklynn Danielle (Mantheiy) Apgar Glen Rock: Jacklynn "Jackie" Apgar, 35, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, December 25, 2014. Jackie, also affectionately known as Jax and Peanut, was born on May 31, 1979, a daughter of Sandra Barnes and the late John "Jack" Mantheiy. She graduated from Susquehannock High School in 1997. In 2006, she successfully completed the certificate practical nursing program at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, MD, preparing her for her professional role as a licensed practical nurse. Her job as a nurse brought her deep satisfaction; in Jackie's own words, "I can't imagine doing anything else in the world. It makes me so happy." Jackie was a very kind and gentle soul with a loving and generous heart; she was always giving to others. She enjoyed being on the go, interacting with people, adventuring. Despite her pint-sized nickname of "Peanut," she was often larger than life. Jackie was intelligent, imaginative, motivated and deeply determined to rise above the ashes of sadness, anxieties and past hurts. She worked diligently on building a self-assured personality full of fun, family, hard work and future goals. Continually focusing on understanding herself, she strove to be a better person, partner, parent and friend. She embraced love and tolerance. A few days before Jackie died, we talked about how excited she was to help plan our April 2015 family trip to Disneyworld. At the end of her life, it came down to the shared human condition--the need to feel valued, needed, significant and special, to belong, to be loved. Jackie, finally at rest, was valued, needed, significant, special, and loved. She mattered to so many. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Richard W. Apgar; her children, Abigail, Jack and Emily; her mother, Sandra Barnes; her mother-in-law, Cassandra Apgar; her sisters, Jennifer Bixler and Evelyn Brenneman; her sisters-in-law, Heather Apgar, Holly Apgar, Crystal Apgar and Rebecca McCullough; her brothers-in-law John Apgar, Rollin Apgar, Byron Apgar, Curvin Bixler and Tony Brenneman; her nieces Chelsey Heller, Hailey Johnson, Laney Apgar, Audrey Nicholson, Savannah Brenneman, Brittony Brenneman, Haileigh Brenneman and Paityn Brenneman; her nephews John Apgar, Jacob Apgar, Ian Apgar, Christopher Apgar and Zachary Bixler and several close friends. Geiple Funeral Home Inc., Glen Rock, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no viewing. Following cremation, a Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 1 New Street, Glen Rock, PA. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up for memorial contributions to defray expenses and provide for her children. Contributions can be made payable to "Cassandra H. Apgar for the benefit of Abigail, Jack and Emily Apgar," and mailed to Susquehanna Bank PA, Glen Rock Office, 57 Main Street, Glen Rock, PA 17327.
