On Monday, March 3, 2025, Howard H. Folkenroth, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Loganville, with his family by his side. He was husband to the late Rozena A. (Boyer) Folkenroth for 42 years before her passing in 2001. Howard was born on November 25, 1935 in York, to the late Daniel H. and Nettie E. (Doll) Folkenroth.
He graduated from Susquehannock High School, then served in the US Army until he was honorably discharged from duty. He began the Loganville Barn in 1974, and also worked for the former Neuhaus Hardware and Farm Machinery Company for 28 years in Glen Rock as well as Kelly Transit. His passion was farming, but also enjoyed going to auctions; John Deere Tractors; gardening; and going to the mountains. Howard loved being around family and spending quality time with them. He was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Loganville.
Howard and his late wife were foster parents to more than 25 children over the past 35 years. They were honored in May 2001 by Children and Youth Services of York County as Foster Parents of the Year.
He is survived by four living siblings: Ray Folkenroth, Royce Folkenroth, Larry Folkenroth, Darlene Sweitzer; four deceased siblings: Carl Folkenroth, Dale Folkenroth, Marlin Folkenroth, Janie Reinhart; three daughters: Kelly Folkenroth, Kayla Billet and Joni Harvey; 11 sons: Dan Folkenroth, Keith Folkenroth, Kevin Folkenroth, John Wright, James Wright, Charles Wright and Marlin Wright, Alan "Rusty" Folkenroth and Jonathan "Eric" Weaver, John "Charles" Davidson, and Howard N. Folkenroth; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several other foster children. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one son, Donald Markle.
Public viewing will be held on Friday, March 7, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock; then again on Saturday, March 8, from 11:00am until a funeral service begins at 12:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 80 S. Main St., Loganville PA 17342. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Loganville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to Christ Lutheran Church at the address above.
