Harland P. Smeigh, 77, of Glen Rock, died Saturday April 14, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy. He was the husband of Josephine C. “Jo” (Wills) Smeigh. The couple celebrated a 51st wedding anniversary on June 18th. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 19, at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with Rev. Robert A. Yohe, Jr., of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Freedom officiating. Burial with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Harland was born on August 11, 1940 and raised in Dallastown, He was the son of the late Miriam L. (Reichart) and Ernest G. Smeigh Sr. He graduated from Dallastown High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 35th Artillery Group Headquarters Battery and Signal Corp. He retired as a Material Handler with Maryland Specialty Wire Co. in Cockeysville MD. He had helped to organize the Glen Rock Ambulance Club and was a member of the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Fire Co. He also was Webelos leader for Troop 48 in Glen Rock for 10 years and was a former member of the Glen Rock Carolers for 30 years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, camping and was part of the Susquehanna Jays Camping Group. Besides his wife he leaves a son Paul E. Smeigh of York and a brother, Ernest E. Smeigh of Windsor.
