Gussie Levin New York City Gussie Levin, 83, of New York City, who was formerly of York, died Sunday January 26, 2014 at her home. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 31, 2014 at South Hill Hebrew Cemetery, 2101 Old Baltimore Pike, York with Rabbi Peter Kessler of Temple Ohev Sholom, Harrisburg officiating. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Miss Levin was born July 8, 1930 in York, a daughter of the late Irving and Ruth L. (Trattner) Levin. She graduated in the Class of 1948 from William Penn Senior High School, York. A self made women, she spent most of her life as a Women’s Sportswear Buyer She began her career as a sales person for the Bon Ton Department Store in York, working to become the Women’s Sportswear Buyer for the company. She had also worked for Wallach 5th Ave, Department Store in New York and several other stores. She had also been an civilian employee as a women’s sportswear buyer with the U.S. Navy, for whom she did extensive travelling and was awarded the Woman of the Year by the Navy for her dedication and work. She also held memberships in affiliated Naval Buyers Groups. Gussie leaves, a brother, Bernard T. Levin of Columbia MD, nieces and nephews, Michael A. Levin, of Strafford, PA and his sons, Pamela L. Cameron of Farmington Conn. and her daughter and late son, Linda J. Sulser of Manassas, VA and her son, among several other relatives. Gussie was pre-deceased by her long time friend and roommate Barbara Snow Knott. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNSNY Hospice Care, 1250 Broadway, New York, New York, 19001 in memory of Gussie Levin. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com
