Gunther O. Hof

Gunther O. Hof, 80, of Westminster, MD, died Monday, July 21, 2014. He was the husband of Virginia L. (Tyler) Hof, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. A time of visitation and sharing with family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with his pastor Rev. Kevin Clementson officiating the memorial service at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glen Rock. Gunther was born on February 5, 1934 in Cisnădie, Romania, a son of the late Max and Meta (Koonhen) Hof. He had a chemistry degree from St. Benedict’s College, having worked as a biochemist for numerous hospitals in the Baltimore area and owned his own Citrano Lab station for 40 years. He served in the United States Army, was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Westminster, the Edelweiss Club, and the Moose Lodge #1381. Besides his wife, Gunther leaves two sons, Kevin Hof of Westminster, and Martin Hof of Glen Rock, PA; 3 grandchildren, Corbin, Mason, and Madison Hof. He is preceded in death by a brother Gerhardt Hof. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gunther’s name to Grace Lutheran Church, 21 Carroll Street, Westminster, MD 21157.
