Gloria Mae Ream

On Monday, October 3, 2022, Gloria M. (Dise) Ream, 83, of Glen Rock passed away at Country Meadows, Leader Heights, York. She was the devoted wife to James R. Ream who passed away on June 26, 2022. They were married for 63 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma, mammaw and great grandma. Gloria was born on May 17, 1939 in York to the late Paul H. and Minerva I. (Ruppert) Dise. Gloria was their only child.

Gloria was a member of the Susquehannock High School class of 1957. She worked for over 35 years in the hardware department of Yorktowne Kitchens in Red Lion, PA. After retirement she spent the next 20 years enjoying and visiting the employees, making deliveries and meeting customers of Ream Printing Co, Inc., York, PA along with her husband Jim. She was Jim’s faithful co-pilot on many, many deliveries over the years.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Glen Rock and a former Nursery Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Fire Company. She was also a York County Republican Committeewoman for Glen Rock Borough for the last eight years. Gloria was a 50-plus-year member of a Ladies 500 Card Club that met monthly. Gloria’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. She never missed a Christmas Eve in Glen Rock for over 80 years, listening to the beloved Glen Rock Carolers when they performed at Zion Lutheran Church, or as they walked the streets of Glen Rock on Christmas morning.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Jim. She is survived by her son James, Jr. and his wife Jean Minnich Ream; daughter Judy Boyce and husband Danny; granddaughters, Heather Kelleher and husband Dylan, Rebecca Ream Weigle and husband Clair (CJ) E. Weigle, III, and Danielle Boyce; great-grandson Clair (Carter) E. Weigle, IV; cousins, James Wilt and Diane Wilt Stover, sisters-in-laws, Joann King and husband Burnell, Linda DeGroft, and Sandy Ream; and brother-in-law, William Ream, Sr. and wife Patricia. She loved her granddaughters and enjoyed spending time with them, and was always so excited to be with her great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; cousin, Bryan Wilt; and her husband’s three siblings, Betty Houck, Barry Ream and Ted Ream.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, October 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be Private in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Glen Rock. Donations in her memory may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, 49 Hanover St., Glen Rock, PA 17327.
