Glenn V.P. Martin, 90, who was formerly of Hanover and Spring Grove, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday Jan. 4, 2019 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, York. He was the husband of the late Flerene K. (Flemmens) Martin. Glenn was born in Spring Grove on July 17, 1928 and was a son of the late Howard F. and Nettie M. (Stambaugh) Martin. He was a self-employed General Contractor for most of his life and was a former member of the Spring Grove Lion’s Club. He loved to work and was most proud of his family. During his working career, he sought to give people an opportunity to begin their lives and get a good start in their new home. Glenn loved books and was an avid reader. His topics of choice were history and politics; he thoroughly enjoyed a “spirited debate”. He leaves two daughters, Carla M. Harrison of Lancaster and Donna M. Martin of Hanover; two grandchildren, Shawn P. Harrison and Allison M Hunt, and three great grandchildren, Maggie, Jack and Ryan. He was predeceased by two sons, Blaine P. Martin who died on August 14, 1971 and Bryan V. Martin who died on August 27, 1991, and by six brothers and two sisters. Mr. Martin believed in lifelong learning and always tried to understand “how things worked”, which is why he donated his body to the Humanity Gift Registry for research and study. A time of sharing memories for family and friends will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a local charity of your choice. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com
