Gilbert C. Norwood, 82, of Glen Rock, PA passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at UPMC Hanover, Hanover, PA. He was the loving husband of Thelma (Britt) Norwood who predeceased him on January 28, 2015. Gil was born in Woodbine, MD on September 9, 1939 to the late William and Inez (Pickett) Norwood. Gil loved working and being outside chopping wood, working on his tractors, taking miles-long walks, and working in the garden. He loved animals and had a "soft spot" for ducks. He enjoyed eating at his favorite restaurant, Clair's, and also at the Famous Hot Weiner, which he called "the hot dog shop". He had worked at Black & Decker, Noxell Corp., and Proctor & Gamble for many years as an industrial electrician. Gil was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover, PA. His love and faith for the Lord was strong. He had a son, Michael Norwood, who also passed away on January 6, 2022. He leaves two daughters, Margaret Plitt and her husband Darin of Hanover, PA, and Ruth Norwood and her husband, Haithem Chouaikhia of Falls Church, VA, two grandsons, Garrett Plitt of Lindley, NY, and Grant Plitt of Hanover, PA, a brother, Billy Norwood of Greenbelt, MD, two sisters, Martha Norwood and Irene Norwood of Frederick, MD, half-sister, Joanne Rolfe (Rick) of Niceville, FL, brother-in-law, Paul Fair of Shrewsbury, PA, sister-in-law, Margaret Britt of Westminster, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his son and parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Norwood, Hattie Norwood, and Della Fair, and his half-sister, Elsie Johnson. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
