On Friday, February 21, 2025, Gary L. Miller, 63, of Red Lion, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the devoted husband to Mary Jo (Hoffman) Miller for 34 years. Gary was born on January 12, 1962 in York, to the late Earl C. and Arlene (Malehorn) Miller.
Gary graduated from York Vo Tech. A mechanic by trade, he had worked on heavy machinery for companies such as RL Jackson Construction; Douglas Equipment; York Township; and Penn Dot. Gary had strong faith in the Lord and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in York. He was also a member of the Rock Oak Hunting Camp. Gary would do anything to help anyone, any time. He enjoyed being outdoors and going on hikes. He also enjoyed his tractors. He was an avid sports fan, and liked watching the Orioles, Dolphins and all things Penn State. To Gary, family was everything. He loved his family and enjoyed watching and coaching his kids' sporting events. His grandchildren, Ben and Baker, say he is the best Pap ever!
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; two children, Laura Ash and husband Noah, and Tim Miller and wife Natalie; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Baker Ash; five siblings, Randy Miller and wife Amy, Greg Miller and wife Cindy, David and wife Chris, Juliann Breighner and husband Bob, and Marianne Kubistek and husband Brian. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Public viewings will be held on Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, then again on Friday, February 28, from 10:00 am until a funeral service begins at 11:00 am, all being held at St. John Lutheran Church, 2580 Mt. Rose Ave., York, PA 17402. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: St. John Lutheran Church.
