On Monday, October 18, 2021, Gary E. Bankert, 66, of Glenville, passed away at UPMC Hospital, Hanover. He was the husband of Denise A. (Hofmann) Bankert with whom he celebrated a 44th wedding anniversary on April 30th. He was born on February 3, 1955, in Hanover to the late Earl N. and Mildred M. (Krebs) Bankert. Gary worked as a machine operator for Utz Quality Foods in Hanover for many years before retiring, and most recently, he had worked for Mercury Electronics in Seven Valleys. He was a member of New Hope Bible Church, Seven Valleys, the Jefferson Rifle Club, and the PA Central Miata Club (PACE). Gary was a Mazda Miata enthusiast, he enjoyed checking his trail cameras, and most of all spending time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Denise, Gary is survived by his two daughters, Megan Patterson (Jeramy) of Dallastown, and Mandi Fincham (Josh) of Loganville; five grandchildren, Noah Fincham, Auburn Patterson, Asher Patterson, Emory Patterson, and Mackenzie Fincham; two sisters, Janet Rinehart (Sterling) of Spring Grove, and Darlene Openshaw (Richard) of Glen Rock; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his In-laws. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday June 25, 2022 at Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church, 5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, PA with Pastor Chris Lofquist Officiating.
