Evelyn E. Williams York Evelyn E. (Kessler) Williams, 95, of York, died Tuesday, February 23, 2015 at Misericordia Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Leonard L. Williams. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York. Officiating at the service will be Rabbi Jeffrey Astrachan. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Williams was born on August 24, 1920 in Pottstown, Pa., a daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Klein) Kessler. She retired from the Montgomery Ward store at the York Mall where she employed as Sales Person in the Jewelry Department for many years. Prior to that she was a Sales Assistant for her brother at the former Sol Kessler Hi-Fi Shop in York. Evelyn was a member of Temple Beth Israel for over 60 years, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years, served on the Board of the Temple and was a member of the Sisterhood of the Temple. She had also served on the Board of the York Jewish Community Center. She was also a volunteer at the polls on Election Day, co-edited a cook book, was a crack duplicate bridge player and enjoyed playing Mah Jong with her friends. She loved traveling the world, visiting many places including Israel, several European Countries and Asia. Evelyn is survived a son Michael P. Williams and his wife Shelley of Toronto Canada; two daughters, Barbara W. Bromberg and her husband Sam of Atlanta, GA, Rose B. Wagner and her husband Richard of Downingtown, PA and; Grandchildren, Leonard and Zachary Bromberg, Rachel and Sophie Williams and Emily Bartler, Heather Wagner, Megan Roeder, Richie Wagner; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her great friend Mickey Zuckerman. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Beatrice Piperberg and Ruth Smotkin, and a brother, Sol Kessler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 998 S. Russell St., York, Pa 17402 or to Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403.
