Being born on August 25, 1923, one hundred year old, Eva Kathleen Smith Cornbower Boyer passed away face-to-face with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, the Village at Sprenkle Drive, York, PA, having been a resident there for a week following a four day stay in WellSpan York Hospital, diagnosed with Influenza A.
Eva was the daughter of the late Willis V. Smith and Annie I. Kaltreider Smith. She was the wife of the late Earl W. Cornbower, and wife of the late Stuart H. Boyer, Sr., nicknamed "Red" Boyer.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris E. Cornbower Boyer and son-in-law, Stuart H. Boyer, Jr., who is also Eva's stepson, with whom she resided for over two years in Spring Grove. Eva is also survived by stepson, Robert R. Boyer (Beryl), stepdaughter, Norma J. Boyer Smith (Dave), and stepson, Charles B. Boyer, and Eva's son-in-law, Richard A. Heiss. Eva was preceded in death by daughter, Luciele J. Cornbower Heiss, and Eva's brothers, Preston K. Smith, Wilford K. Smith and Raymond K. Smith. Eva is also survived by a 98 year old sister, Mildred Smith, of Glen Rock, PA. Eva is also survived by numerous step and grandchildren, step and great-grandchildren, and step and great-great-grandchildren.
Eva's greatest joys in her earliest years of marriage was being a farmer's wife. Upon widowhood at age 26, she became a seamstress at the former Savada Brothers Sewing Factory in Glen Rock, PA., and later worked at the Seven Valleys Garment Company for 21 years, from which she retired in 1985.
Eva attended Faith Evangelical Congregational Church regularly at 833 Stoverstown Road, York, PA 17408, in Bair, PA, where, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 12:30 pm, a memorial service will be held, with Rev. Frank Miller, Sr. presiding. A 2:00 pm cremation burial of the urn will take place at the Jefferson Cemetery, Codorus, PA 17311. Eva was a lifelong member of St. Jacob's (Stone) United Church of Christ, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, PA 17329, where another memorial service will be held the same day, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:45 pm, with Rev. Bruce Bouchard presiding. Invitation to a luncheon at Stone Church Follows. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to either church listed above.
