Ernest Chester Waters

Ernest Chester Waters, 74, born October 28, 1946 died May 29, 2021 peacefully at his home from natural causes surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Janice (Sweitzer) Waters. She was the love of his life, and they celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary together last year. Mr. Waters was the son of the late Maude (Thomas) Waters Delp (PA) and Thomas Benjamin Waters (FL). He was a graduate of Kennard Dale High School. He was employed at AMP Corporation in York, PA for most of his career until retirement. He enjoyed the many miles he walked with his wife over the years. He loved family get-togethers and going hunting and fishing with his nephew Greg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved granddaughter Alexis Jones, Tamaqua, PA; sister Myrtle Morris, PA: sister-in-law Mary Waters Bostic (Robert), MD; his nieces and nephews: Karen Seiple (Scott), Airville, PA; Tamara Moore, MD; Gregory Waters (Mindy), PA; Emily Skorupinski (Brad), MD; Steve Morris, VA; Deborah Wilkinson, AR; Robin Lynn, MD; Brian Morris, PA; Connie Evans, PA; Christopher Davis, PA; Karin Hudick, PA; Brian Sweitzer, PA; Eric Gross, PA, Amy Spears, MD; and many cousins and great nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his loving daughter Lisa A. Jones, his brother Thomas Lee Waters, his sister Lois Davis, his niece Shelby Griffey, and in-laws James and Helen Sweitzer. Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 11894 Susquehanna Trail South, Hametown, PA on Friday, June 4, 2021. A public viewing will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed immediately by the funeral service. Rev. Katie Brantner and Rev. Emily Skorupinski will officiate. Interment will follow at Dignity/Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd, York, PA. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for scholarship fund to benefit Alexis Jones.
