Erika E. Weaver

Erika E. (Krauss) Weaver, 86, who was formerly of York, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Sunrise at University Park Senior Living in Colorado Springs, CO where she lived for the past year. She was the wife of the late Dr. Richman G. Weaver, D.O. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Weaver was born in Philadelphia on February 26, 1930 and was a daughter of the late George and Bertha E. (Reichelt) Krauss. She graduated from Cheltenham High School, Wyncote, PA in 1948 and received her BA in Spanish from Wilson College in 1952 and her Master’s Degree from Millersville University. Her teaching career included teaching Spanish at York Suburban Junior High and at Penn Manor Junior High in Lancaster, following which she taught part-time at Penn State York and York College. She also tutored intercity youth in York for many years. Erika was a member of Advent Lutheran Church for over 40 years and served on various committees and clubs at the church. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She leaves three sons, Stephen G. Weaver and his wife, Cindee of Colorado Springs, Colo., Peter J. Weaver of York, and Timothy R. Weaver and his wife, Lynne of York; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, a sister Gudren Lounsbury of Lewes Del. and a brother George Krauss of Denver Co.
