Elizabeth E. Stermer

Elizabeth E. (Shearer) Stermer, 89, of York, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Manor Care South. She was the wife of the late John H. Stermer. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday June 30, 2017 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Burial will be in St. John's (Saddler's) Church Cemetery, Stewartstown. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Elizabeth was born July 4, 1927, in Shrewsbury, and was a daughter of the late Curvin and Evelyn (Trabert) Shearer. She worked as a seamstress in several sewing factories in the area. After retirement, she went on to work in produce preparation for Brown’s Orchard, Loganville for many years. Elizabeth was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren and the York New Salem Fire company; where she was involved with the Ladies Auxiliary and served as their treasurer. She enjoyed reading her Bible and Chicken Soup for the Soul books, playing BINGO, watching gameshows, doing word searches, and spending time with her family. She leaves three daughters, Pauline E. Diehl of Abbottstown, Anna L. Diehl and her husband Larry of York, and Cathy M. Worley and her husband Dennis of Hanover; three sons, John T. Stermer of Seven Valleys, Robert H. Stermer and his wife Lori of Hanover, and Randy S. Stermer of York; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Shearer and Harold Shearer, and a sister, Delma Buser. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark E. Frey and a brother James F. Shearer.
