Edward Sweitzer, 70, of Shrewsbury, passed away Friday November 12, 2021 at Hershey Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Lisa (Brown) Sweitzer with whom he celebrated a 22nd anniversary last Saturday, November 6th. Ed was born November 4, 1951, in York, and was a son of the late James and Helen (Miller) Sweitzer. He worked for Southern York County School District for over 25 years as a custodian and maintenance employee. You could fine Ed around town mowing yards or blowing snow in his spare time. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed helping others in any way he could. He also enjoyed sports and was an avid Penn State and Susquehannock Warriors fan. Ed was a member of New Hope (Fissel’s) UCC, Glen Rock and enjoyed helping at the church as well. In addition to his wife Lisa, Ed is survived by a son Brian Sweitzer and his significant other, Ginger Sloan of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Polly Ostrander (Peter) of Uniontown, and Janice Walters of York; a brother Perry Sweitzer (Ann) of Seven Valleys; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Kellie Sweitzer. Following cremation, there will be a visitation celebrating Ed's life from 10:00AM -1:00PM on Saturday November 20, 2021, at New Hope (Fissel’s) United Church of Christ, 3426 Fissel’s Church Road, Glen Rock, PA. Burial will be held at Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the church at the address above or to Southern York County School District Foundation PO Box 128, Glen Rock, PA 17327 (memo line: Edward Sweitzer Scholarship fund).
