Edward Eckrote, 86, of Kerrville, Texas, who was formerly of Glenville, died Friday, November 24, 2017 at his home. He is the husband of Geraldine (Miller) Eckrote with whom he celebrated 69 years of marriage on September 13th. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, with pastor, Brandon R. Grady officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born on March 6, 1931 in Chicago and was a son of the late Norman and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Eckrote. He was a member of the Black Rock Church of the Brethren. Ed enjoyed hunting, target shooting and road trips. He developed a great love of animals and enjoyed playing string instruments and singing. He and his wife enjoyed singing together and visited nursing homes in the Kerrville area where they made their home for the last 28 years. Besides his wife he also leaves, five daughters, Sharon M. Myers (Francis) of Spring Grove, Dawn Gibbs (James) of Red Lion, Beverly L. Bott (Jeff) of East Berlin, Wanda G. Anderson (Gary) of York, and Michelle L. Wagner of Manchester; three sons, Allen E. Eckrote (Sharon) of Dover, Oren R. Eckrote (Margaret) of Mechanicsburg, and Dwayne P. Eckrote (Bridget) of Felton; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a brother Frank Eckrote Sr. (Judy) of McSherrystown, Step-sister Lucille Morris (Bill) of Scranton.
