Edward E. Chandler, Sr. Glen Rock Edward E. Chandler, Sr., 77, of Glen Rock, died Friday January 31, 2014 at Pleasant Acres, York. He was the husband of the late Janet L. (Sopotnick) Chandler. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, 47 Hanover Street, Glen Rock. Officiating at the service will be his pastor the Rev. Ed Robbins. There will be no viewing and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Chandler was born in Endwell, NY on October 10, 1936, a son of the late Dana D. and Bertha Mae E. (Hakes) Chandler. He graduated from Union Endicott (NY) High School in 1955. He was a truck driver for M&M Trucking and McCory’s, and was a tow motor operator for United Defense, (BAE) York for 25 years retiring in 1998. After retirement he began working maintenance at Wal-Mart in Shrewsbury for 10 years. Ed was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Rock, he also was a past president of Glen Rock Lions Club and an assistant coach for Southern York County baseball. Ed was a social member and NASCAR Race Club member at the Austin L. Grove Legion Post 403 in Glen Rock. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, dancing, and he loved to travel. He leaves a son, Edward E. Chandler, Jr. and his wife Donna of Glen Rock; four daughters, Rose Jean Bell and her husband Brandon of Glen Rock, Kathleen M. Kursar and her husband James of Liverpool, NY, Lynette R. Huff and her husband Clark of Highspire, Pa, and Denise L. Chilcoat and her husband Dennis of Seven Valleys; ten grandchildren, Chaz R. Bupp, Eric Ryan Blevins, Katlyn R. Blevins, Kristian B. Brotherhood, David W. Swords, Breanne M. Chandler, Anders J. C. Kursar, Gina M. Swords, Robyn A. Chandler, Colton J. Chilcoat; three great grandchildren, Ryan S. Blevins, McKenzie S. Blevins, and Maddex C. Holtke; a sister, Delores Rogoff of Bethel, NY; two brother, Emerson Chandler of Johnson City, NY, and Clair Chandler of Johnstown, Pa. He was predeceased by a brother in law Joseph Rogoff and a nephew Jeffrey Rogoff. Memorial contributions may be made to Austin L. Grove Legion Post 403 Baseball Team, 4035 Manchester St. Glen Rock, PA 17327.
