Edna Blumenthal Hanover, PA Edna (Serbin) Blumenthal, 96, of Hanover, died Wednesday January 15, 2014 at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Blumenthal. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Friday January 17, 2014 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock with Rabbi Eric Cytryn, of Temple Beth El, Harrisburg. officiating. There will be no viewing. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery, York. Mrs. Blumenthal was born in Aliquippa, PA, daughter of the late Harry and Fannie (Epstein) Serbin. She retired from the Recorder of Deeds Office at the York County Court House. Active in York County politics, she established the Hanover Area Democratic Club, served as a Democratic Precinct Committeewoman, and served on the Executive Committee of the Democratic party of York County for over 20 years. She was honored by the Democratic Society of York for her work in getting people to register, vote and also for providing transportation to polling places. She also received the Hanover YWCA Women of the Year Award for her civic dedication to the Hanover area. Mrs. Blumenthal was a volunteer with the Hanover Red Cross and was a long time member of the Hanover Hebrew Congregation. She leaves two daughters, Elaine Strokoff and her husband Elliot, of Camp Hill, and Joan Goldman and her husband Gary, of Lititz, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Please omit flowers.
