Douglas E. Keller

December 9, 1931 — December 9, 2024

Douglas E. Keller was born on December 9th 1931, at home, to the late Carrie (Mummert) Keller Martin.

In 1949 Douglas graduated from Greencastle High School. He went on to attend Penn State University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. While there, he met Donamae Norris at a nearby diner where she worked. A dispute over a cup of tea (she was right - he was wrong) lead to a marriage of 67 years, until her passing in August of 2021.

Through those years, Douglas and Donamae were blessed with five children, who gave them ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Douglas was preceded in death by two sisters Eleanor Reese and Lou Sollenberger, as well as his son David William Keller and his wife Donamae Kathryn (Norris) Keller.

Douglas was an honest man who believed in the value hard work. If you were building, hanging, or straightening anything, he had a level tool for the task, because Douglas felt if a job was worth doing it was worth doing well. He had the mind of a perfectionist and the heart of a teddy bear (only a few people knew that last part). He would have done anything for his children Diane Reedy, Sandra Huff, Susan Bailey, David Keller (deceased) and Kathryn Hartman. He adored his younger sister Jeannie Johnston, who was ten years his junior.

There was not a roof or tower he would not try to get to the top of, a trail he did not want to hike or a thrill ride he did not want to try.

December 9th 2024, the morning of his 93rd birthday, Douglas E. Keller passed away.

He will be missed.
