Dorette Garrett of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania passed away on May 27, 2024. Her loved ones are composing her obituary, which you will be able to read here.On Monday, May 27, 2024, Dorette M. Garrett, 67, of Gettysburg, formerly of Hanover, passed away at the Mercy House in Chambersburg. Born on June 1, 1956 in York, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur R. and Dorothy M. (Shue) Garrett. She retired from HART Center in New Oxford. Dorette was a member of St. Jacob's (Stone) United Church of Christ, where she earned her 50 year Sunday School Pin; and the Hanover Area Council of Churches PALS program where they served meals to those less fortunate. In her spare time, she enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing UNO, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Russell Garrett, Jr. and wife Kelly; two nephews, Justin and Marshall Garrett; many cousins; and her faithful caregiver, Melinda Rollins, who allowed Dorette to live with her for the past 16 years.
Public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 30, from 10:00 am until a funeral service begins at 11:00 am at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Interment will follow in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to Mercy House, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 OR St. Jacob's (Stone) UCC, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, PA 17329.
