.Donna Elizabeth Jayne, known affectionately as "Momma Jayne," passed away on August 24, 2024, in York, PA, at the age of 78. Born on June 2, 1946, in Hanover, PA, she was a member of the graduating class of 1964 at South Western High School.
Donna dedicated over three decades of her life to the South Western School District, where she served in various roles including bus driver, special education teacher's aide, assistant to the Reading Specialist, and assistant to the Administration Department. Her commitment to education and the well-being of children was evident in her interactions and the deep connections she forged with her students.
She was a devout member of Bethel Assembly of God and Gates of Praise Worship Center, where she actively participated in community and worship activities.
A passionate Civil War Reenactor, Donna excelled in open hearth cooking and took pleasure in teaching others about historical cooking techniques at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster, MD. She also loved teaching middle schoolers Civil War dances, watching them come out of their comfort zones and learning hands on about history. Her hobbies were not just pastimes but a significant part of who she was, sharing her love and knowledge with all who were interested.
Donna was a kind and loving person who was always willing to help anyone in need. Her love for others was deep and left a lasting impression on those she touched. She also had a sassy side and never shied away from expressing her opinions. Donna had many passions and enjoyed sharing them with those around her. From the time she could walk she was a true animal lover. Growing up with her tailless cat and her rooster that would follow her around like a puppy, there was never a shortage of animals in her life. She instilled that love in her daughter and always encouraged her to go after her dreams of working with animals. Donna was lucky enough to see that her daughter found that dream, even if it wasn't quite the type of animals she imagined.
She is survived by her loving husband, Scott Jayne; daughter, Jessica Fishel and her partner Brent Blevins, her grandson Nathan Blevins, adopted daughter Ida Taylor; sister, Dolores Taylor; brother, Ken Wildasin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Arlene and Melvin Wildasin.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date to honor Donna's legacy and share memories of her remarkable life.
