Donald Lee Hargest

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, Donald Hargest, 76, passed away peacefully at home in Stewartstown. He was the loving husband of Brenda (Bare) Hargest for 41 years. Donald was born on September 25, 1947 in Baltimore, MD to the late Agnes (Burkhardt) and Robert F. Hargest, Sr. He graduated from Parkville High School in Harford County, MD in 1965, then received his Associates Degree in business management from Towson State College. Don managed several businesses throughout his career before he retired. In his spare time he enjoyed watching and playing sports, including playing baseball into his 50's. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Don was a friend to everyone he met, there was no one that met him that didn't like him.

Don is survived by his wife, Brenda; two sons, Derek Hargest and Brett Hargest and wife Amanda Franks; one brother, Robert F. Hargest and wife Sue; one sister, Elizabeth A. Ross and husband Bob; and three grandchildren, Drew, Rylee and Caroline Hargest. He was preceded in death by his parents; a 12 year old son, Donnie L. Hargest, Jr.; and one brother, Tex Hargest.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 2:00 pm at Family of God Community Church, 147 1st Avenue, Red Lion, PA 17356.  No street parking.  There is a parking lot behind the church on Summit Lane.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, PO Box 424053, Washington, DC 20042.
