Delores V. Godfrey

Delores V. "Dorrie" (Stremmel) Godfrey, 90, of York, died Thursday April 15, 2021 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stanley L. "Stan" Godfrey. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, April 23, 2021, at the Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown, (Route 214, 1 mile east of Loganville). Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:45 am Friday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by the Geiple-Predicce Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock. Due to Covid-19 guidance, masks are requested. Services will be live stream at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services Facebook page at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Godfrey was born on March 24, 1931 in Shrewsbury Township and was a daughter of the late Curvin C. and Nora (Keeney) Stremmel. She had been employed at various places, raised her children and had worked with her husband at Godfrey Brothers Meats in Loganville. She was a member of Codorus Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the church choir for many years, served as a Deaconess and was active in the Women's Fellowship and other church organizations and functions. She also sang with the Jacobus Community Choir. Delores leaves a son Stanley L. Godfrey Jr. (Nancy) of New Paris IN; three daughters, Carolyn G. Altizer of Salem VA, Jane M. Ilyes (Charles) of Lebanon PA, Beth E. Striebig (Doug) of Dallastown and 11 Grandchildren, Three Step Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren with one on the way. She was predeceased by siblings, Preston Stremmel, Marvin C. Stremmel and Laverne C. Stremmel, a sister, Beatrice Bull and a son-in-law Jim Altizer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown, PA 17313.
