Dean L. Bortner

Dean L. Bortner, 81, of Glen Rock, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Donna Jean (Ganther) Bortner, with whom he was married to for over 62 years. A public viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 5, 2021 Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock. Interment will be private at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. The family request that you dress casual for the services. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks must be worn and social distancing is required. There is a 50-person limit inside the funeral home, so please keep visits brief to allow others that may be waiting to offer their sympathies. Dean was born July 30, 1939 in York and was a son of the late Stewart S. and Elsie M. (Krout) Bortner Frey and stepson of the late Fairy I. (Welty) Bortner. He was a professional truck driver, driving for Cargill Salt, White Marsh, MD for over 25 years, and Service Supply Company for over 15 years. He retired in 2006 from Penske Logistic's in Reading after driving for 13 years. Mr. Bortner is survived by two daughters, Kimberly J. Amend and husband Bob, Jr. of Red Lion, Karla Jo Robinson and husband Bill of Seven Valleys, a son James D. Bortner, Sr. and wife Lisa Ann of York; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie I. Fishel of York; and two brothers, Dawson and Dennis Frey. He was predeceased by two sisters.
