David S. Seitz

David S. "Dave" Seitz , 88, died on June 24, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the husband of Shirley Stake Seitz. The couple observed their 67th wedding anniversary on September 1, 2023.

Born at York Hospital on October 19, 1935 he was the son of the late Sherman L. Seitz and the late Nora (Smith) Seitz. In addition to his wife he leaves two daughters, Joan Nelson of York and Gail Prego of Glen Rock and two grandsons, Alexander Prego and Nicolas Prego, both of Glen Rock.

He was a 1953 graduate of Susquehannock High School, a 1957 graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in accounting, a 1976 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in business education and a 1980 graduate of the same school with an MBA degree. He was a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Professional Manager.

Dave spent nine years as an officer in the U.S. Army including overseas tours in Italy and Vietnam, earning five service medals. He was an accountant/controller for several local companies and taught accounting and management for 15 years at William Penn College, Lebanon Valley College and Gettysburg College. In 1995 he was elected Treasurer of York County and served until December 31, 1999 at which time he retired. He was a PIAA official in basketball and football and an international official in basketball.

He was a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Shrewsbury Lodge No. 423, Free and Accepted Masons, National Sojourners, Heroes of 76, Austin L. Grove Post No. 403 the American Legion, The National Society of Scabbard and Blade, AARP, the Glen Rock Historical Society, Alumni Associations of the University of Delaware, York College of Pennsylvania, Glen Rock High School, of which he was president and treasurer, and Susquehannock High School, and a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Glen Rock.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sherman L. Seitz, Jr.

A public Viewing will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock. A Masonic service will be held at approximately 7:45pm. Another viewing will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 am until a funeral service begins at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Glen Rock. Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glen Rock.
