David A. Mummert, 67, of Glen Rock, died Friday October 6, 2017 at York Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Linda M. (Shaffer) Mummert, with whom he celebrated a 46th Wedding anniversary this past July 11th. David was born in Codorus Township and was a son of the late Millard A. and Mellie S. (Miller) Mummert. He graduated in 1968 from Susquehannock High School and retired in 2015 from the Road Maintenance Crew of Codorus Township following 10 years of employment. Prior to that he had worked for the New Freedom Borough as the Treatment Plant Supervisor for 17 years. He was a member of the Mason Dixon Baptist Church, New Freedom, where he served as a Trustee and Deacon and was a former member of St. Peter’s Church in Seven Valleys. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Scott A. Mummert (Stephani) of Cockeysville, MD; a daughter, Amy R. Mummert of Dover; two grandchildren, Natalie M. Mummert and Wyatt A. Mummert; two brothers, Richard C. Mummert of New Freedom and Dale L. Mummert of Glen Rock. He was predeceased by a brother Floyd L. Mummert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Mason Dixon Baptist Church, 713 Campbell Road, New Freedom with Pastor Terry Felton, Officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, Seven Valleys. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mason Dixon Baptist Church, (mark for Mission Fund) 713 Campbell Road, New Freedom, PA 17349. Condolences may be shared at geiple.com.
