Darlene Myers

Darlene Irene (Shive) Myers, 83, of Glen Rock, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025 at Homewood at Plum Creek with her children by her side. She was born in Codorus Township, PA on October 31, 1941 to the late Martin L. and Effie I. (Rohrbaugh) Shive. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Crystal Myers and her husband Mike; her son, Dwayne Myers; grandchildren Bryn and Katriana Durakovich; and her sister Nancy Lee of Summerville, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Myers, daughter Corena Myers, and siblings, Leroy Shive, Sr., Francis Shive, Leona Weister and Lois Rittenhouse.

She graduated from Susquehannock High School in the class of 1959 and continued her education to become a cosmetologist. She and her sister, Leona, opened Darlene and Leona's Beauty Salon at 20 Hanover St in Glen Rock, PA in 1960. She became the sole proprietor approximately 10 years later when Leona moved out of state. She retired in 2013. She also furthered her education and became a licensed real estate agent during her career as a hair stylist.

Darlene enjoyed traveling, playing cards, everything outdoors, and time with family. The family took a road trip across the country in the summer of 1970. She enjoyed camping, as long as it was not in a tent. She enjoyed the beach, boating, and water skiing. She was a member of the Southern York County Snow Packers and held several offices. She enjoyed numerous trips to northern Pennsylvania, New York and Canada for snowmobiling. She was a Girl Scout leader and accompanied her troop to Europe twice.

A viewing will be held at Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA 17327 on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 7 to 9 PM. A viewing will be held at St. Jacob's UCC Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, PA 17329 on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM at which time a funeral service will be held. Burial to immediately follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Glen Rock Hose and Ladder Co., P.O. Box 95, Glen Rock, PA 17327, please designate for the Star Fund or to St. Jacob's UCC Church at the above address.
