Daniel M. Landis Seven Valleys Daniel M. Landis, 86, of Seven Valleys, died Wednesday June 8, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Loretta I. (Kopp) Landis, with whom he would have celebrated a 62nd Wedding Anniversary on July 30th. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ, 100 East George Street, York New Salem, with his pastor the Rev. Rick Stuempfle officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Seven Valleys with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main Street, Glen Rock and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the church. Mr. Landis was born on May 16, 1930 in Jefferson and was a son of the late Harry C. and Beulah V. (Miller) Landis. He served as a Staff Sergeant and Rifle Expert with the U.S. Marine Corp, having served during the Korean War. Dan was a truck driver for P.A. & S. Small, York for over 30 years. He also served as a Deputy for PA Fish Commission and was a Constable for the Seven Valleys Borough for several years. He proudly served on the York County Veterans Honor Guard and was a member of St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ, York New Salem, the Shrewsbury Lodge #423 F&AM, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forrest #30, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, Jefferson AARP Chapter #3699, the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403, Glen Rock, the Seven Valleys Fire Company, and Tri Community Ambulance Association, Seven Valleys. Dan was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper and was a lifetime member and past president of the Jefferson Sportsmen’s Association, where he was a Hunter Safety Course instructor for many years. He was also a life member of the NRA, and had also served as Treasurer for the Seven Valleys Borough for many years. In addition to his wife, Dan leaves a daughter Tina M. Stiles and her husband William H. II, of Seven Valleys; two sons, Douglas L. Landis and his wife Kathy of Yoe, and Gary L. Landis of Seven Valleys; six grandchildren, Lacey M. Querry and husband Thomas, Bradley J. Landis and wife Sadie, Brent D. Landis and wife Megan, Zachary W. Stiles and wife Ashlee, Kaitlin M. Stiles, and Tyler W. Stiles; 5 Great Grandchildren Chloe, Addisyn, Jayson, Makennah, and Harper; and a sister Annie J. Selby of Dover. He is preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Arnold, Harry, Cornelius, and Clyde Landis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the York County Veterans Honor Guard, PO BOX 712, Mt. Wolf, PA 17347, or to St. Jacob’s UCC Church, PO Box 111, York New Salem, PA 17371.
