Clinton E. Raver York Clinton E. Raver, 88, of York, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the York Lutheran Home in the Village at Sprenkle Drive, York. He was the husband of Erma P. (Henry) Raver, with whom he celebrated a 65th wedding anniversary this past June 26th. . Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Friedensaal Lutheran Church, 9138 White Church Road, Seven Valleys, with his pastor, The Rev. Kathy A. Swords of Shiloh Lutheran Church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Margareta M. Breden, pastor of Friedensaal Lutheran Church. Burial with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Friedensaal Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Wednesday at Friedensaal Lutheran Church. Mr. Raver was born on October 3, 1925, in Springfield Township, a son of the late James A. and Catherine R. (Shenberger) Raver. He graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1944 and was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, serving as a Tail Gunner with the 483rd Bombardier 840th Squadron in Italy. He retired in 1985 from GTE Sylvania in York as a Tool and Die Maker after 33 years of service. Clinton was a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church, York and was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791. After his retirement he was an avid golfer and enjoyed swimming. Besides his wife, he also leaves two daughters, Donna E. Fox and her husband Larry of York, Gail A Raver and her husband Robert Mummert of York; a son, Thomas M. Raver and his wife Vickie McCready of York; a granddaughter, Angela M. Clark and her husband Parrish, two great grandsons, Ethan and Aidan Clark; a sister, Beulah Combs of York New Salem and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Effie Lloyd and Minnie Braun and by two brothers, Norman Raver and James F. “Bud” Raver. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Lutheran Church, 2201 Church Road, York, PA 17408 or to Friedensaal Lutheran Church, 9138 White Church Road, Seven Valleys, PA 17360.
