Charlotte Amelia Sweitzer, age 97, passed away on September 2, 2021 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Village at Shrewsbury after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born May 6, 1924 in North Hopewell Township, the daughter of the late Ivan E. Sweitzer and Lottie Rehmeyer Sweitzer. She also was predeceased by her brother Dean R. Sweitzer and his wife Iona Michael Sweitzer and by her nephew Jerry E. Sweitzer. She is survived by her nephew Ted M. Sweitzer and his wife Judy Brenneman Sweitzer of Pawleys Island, SC as well as her beloved great niece Katrina Sweitzer Kinneer and her husband Gary of Camp Hill, PA. After graduation from high school she attended Thompson School of Business in York. She was employed by AMP Inc/TYCO Electronics as a secretary for nearly 40 years. Charlotte enjoyed traveling, gardening, working on the farm, time with family, and her pet cats OJ and Mickey. After leaving her home on the Plank Road she spent several years at Country Meadows at Leaders Heights and eventually at the SpiriTrust Lutheran Village at Shrewsbury Skilled Care Unit where she received the most kind and gentle care by the Skilled Care Staff as well as the SpiriTrust Hospice Staff. She was the “most special Aunt” to and for her nephews, Ted and Jerry. She also spent her life keeping a home and being a caregiver for her father after her mother’s death. Until the end she greeted her family with a smile. We thank God for a long and well lived life and she lives on in our hearts. Following cremation there will be a private burial at St. John’s (Sadler’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Because of Charlotte’s love of animals her family requests donations be made in her memory to: Saint Frances Animal Center, 125 N. Ridge St, Georgetown, SC 29440. www.sfanimals.org
