Charles Sevester Beard

On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Charles S. Beard, II, 77, of York New Salem, passed away at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of Alice (Dapp) Beard for exactly 53 years on the day he passed. Charles was born on September 13, 1945 in York to the late Helen (Edgar) Beard and Charles S. Beard, Sr. He was a 1963 graduate of William Penn High School before attending the Williamsport Vocational School, where he took classes to become a diesel mechanic. He then proudly served his country with the Navy Seabees, doing two tours in Vietnam. He went on to own and operate his own business, Charlie's Repair Service, Inc., from 1975-2005. Charles had been the president of the Pennsylvania Towing Association and had received certifications in the International Towing Museum. Charles was a hard worker and enjoyed doing so, but he also enjoyed admiring and working on vehicles of all types, being outside and helping others with anything they needed.

Charles is survived by his wife, Alice; three daughters, Susan Krebs and husband Michael, Cynthia Kile and husband David, and Katherine Anderson and husband Tommy; two brothers, Gregory Beard and wife Shirley, and Lance Beard and wife Kim; he is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 10:00am until a funeral service begins at 12:00pm at St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem, 17371.
