Chapman John Gobrecht, Jr.

On Monday, March 1, 2021, Chapman John Gobrecht, Jr. of Felton peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Rose E. (Cason) Gobrecht of 53 years. Children, TammyLee Kennedy and husband Brian, Amy E. Moffitt and husband Chris, Jennifer L. Pyle and husband Kevin, and Peggy L. Gobrecht and husband Jason Ellis; 20 grandchildren, Derek, Kari, Chapman, Michael, Sam, Elizabeth, Viktoria, Lily, Joey, Julianna, Sarah, Ella, Emma, Brady, Jake, Eli, Dawson, Maggie, Ben, & Lydia; His granddogs, Wally & Dolly; great-granddog, Dwight. He is also survived by his life-long friend, Dennis Laney and wife Sharon. He is preceded in death by his son, Chapman John Gobrecht III; grandson, Simon E. Vanderslice; parents; and three siblings, Joseph Gobrecht, Marylee Stuart and Florence Benson. John was born on May 10, 1949 in Baltimore, MD to the late Marie (Raines) and Chapman John Gobrecht, Sr. He worked for Johns Hopkins University in the painting department for over 40 years where he became the department supervisor & was affectionately known as Bro. He was a devoted husband, father, & Poppy. He was a former Deacon at Northeast Baptist in Baltimore, MD & he loved the Lord. While his late son was in the Boy Scouts, he was a Scout leader. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it being hunting, fishing, or camping. He enjoyed woodworking, watching old westerns, & a good bowl of ice cream. He was a fan of John Wayne & Elvis & he had dance moves like James Brown. Public viewing will be on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 10am until a funeral service begins at 12pm at Grace Fellowship Church, 74 E. Forrest Ave. Shrewsbury.
