On Saturday, January 16, 2021, Burnell E. Luckenbaugh, 85, of New Oxford, passed away at home from complications of Parkinson's Disease, with his wife of 59 years, Eunice (Harbold) Luckenbaugh, by his side. He was born on January 26, 1935 in Spring Grove, to the late William and Florence (Stine) Luckenbaugh Myers. He served in the US Army, then worked for Manley Valve in York for 43 years before he retired. Burnell was a Charter member of the York New Salem Lions Club where he served several terms as President and Committee Chairs, and also received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Along with his wife, Eunice, he is survived by his sister Janet and husband Dennis Druck; sister-in-law Rosa Luckenbaugh; sister-in-law Helen Hnidowicz; sister-in-law Lois Zartman; 12 nieces and nephews including a special nephew Ted Luckenbaugh and a special niece, Carla Kolosa and her husband, Randy. He was preceded in death by his parents and Step-father, John F. Myers; and one brother, Dwight Luckenbaugh. Following cremation, a graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 21 at 2 pm at St. Jacob's Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Pastor Ken Loyer of Spry Church will officiate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S.
