Betty Jane Deveney

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, Betty Jane (Lau) Deveney, 95, formerly of Glen Rock, passed away at Messiah Lifeways in Mechanicsburg. She was the loving wife of the late Marvin Henry "Diz" Deveney for 58 years until his passing in 2006. Betty was born on May 14, 1926 in York to the late Earl and Mabel (Herbst) Lau. She graduated from Glen Rock High School and then received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Drexel University. She was actively involved in the family hardware business and substitute taught at Southern York County Schools. Her main occupation, however, was being a homemaker to her husband and three sons. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Glen Rock. She is survived by her sister: Sue Ann Diffendall, her three sons and their wives: Terry and wife Janet, Jim and wife Ann and Doug and wife Janice; eight grandchildren: Gregory, Joseph, Rebecca, Ryan, Kelsey, Troy, Jeffrey and Rachel and seven great-grandchildren: Addison, Harper, Trevor, Quinn, Jack, Ellie and Owen. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Gene Sheffer. Following cremation, services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
