Betty J. (Gladfelter) Taylor, 94, of Autumn House West, York, who was formerly of Glen Rock, died Saturday April 8, 2017 at the home. She was the wife of the late Walter R. Taylor. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock, with Rev. George Schneider of St. John Lutheran Church New Freedom, officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s (Stone) Church Cemetery, Glenville. A viewing will be held from 12 noon to 1:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Taylor was born on August 22, 1922 in Codorus Township and was a daughter of Horace F. and Annie K. (Kerr) Gladfelter. Betty and her husband had owned the former Candlelight Inn in Hametown, following which she had worked at several factories in the Glen Rock area, retiring from Glen Traditional Furniture Co. where she was employed as a finisher. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Rock and had lived at Autumn House West since 2004. Betty leaves a son, John R. Black, Jr and his wife Rose of York; four granddaughters, Rochelle Black, Michelle Black, Janelle Makowski and husband Steve all of York, and Monelle Baynard and husband Bob of Mechanicsburg; four great granddaughters Emily, Abigail and Chloe Makowski and Maliah Baynard; and a sister Marian Ambrosius of Glenville. She was predeceased by two daughters, Nancy J. Taylor and Kathleen E. Black, two sisters and two brothers.
