Betty A. Hoover

October 21, 1930 — November 2, 2023

On Thursday, November 2, 2023, Betty A. (Roser) Hoover, 93, formerly of Glen Rock, passed away at SpiriTrust Lutheran, the Village at Utz Terrace in Hanover, PA. She was the devoted wife of the late James E. Hoover. Betty was born on October 21, 1930, in Glen Rock, to the late Oscar N. and Viola C. (Lentz) Roser. She graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1948 and began working at AMF in Glen Rock. In 1952 she married Jim, her husband of 64 years. Later she would become an Administrative Assistant for Glen Traditionals, Inc. in Glen Rock before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Glen Rock Historical Society, and the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403 Ladies Auxiliary.

Betty was a proud wife, home maker, mother, and grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her passion. She loved to cook and bake her many famous recipes such as chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. She was a champion pie baker, winning awards at the York Fair and Brown's Orchard pie contests. During their retirement years, Betty and Jim enjoyed traveling to Florida with friends and she was especially fond of visiting Harpers Ferry WV.

Betty's light shined wherever she went. Whether she was at church, sporting events, or at the places she called home after Glen Rock, her positivity was contagious and her warm smile was unforgettable. If you knew her, you loved her. She welcomed many friends into her home and heart throughout the years, often giving them a good home-cooked meal or her famous chocolate chip cookies. Betty filled her family's life with so much joy, love, and fun, and will be deeply missed every day.

Betty is survived by two children, Connie V. Alban and husband Brian, and James H. Hoover and wife Lisa; three grandchildren, Nicole Louey and husband Ben, Jennifer Schneider and husband Matthew, and Andrea Hoover Castilow and husband Brian; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Carly and Elijah Louey, Audrey and Josephine Schneider, and Emerson and Julia Castilow. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Carol Ann Hoover; and one sister, Phyllis M. Dise.
