Benjamin “Ben” Moses York Benjamin “Ben” Moses, 87, of York, passed away Saturday, November 07, 2015 at Manor Care Kingston. He was the husband of Bernice Moses. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on October 21. He was born September 19, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre to the late Gertrude (Moskowitz) Moses-Weiss and Herman Moses. He graduated from Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, graduating in the class of 1946 and attended Wilkes College. Ben worked for 32 years at Doe-Spun Inc., becoming Vice President–Distribution, retiring in 1993. He was a long-time member of Ohev Sholom Synagogue, serving on the board and occasionally leading services and teaching Sunday School. He was a volunteer at Jewish Family Services in many capacities. He enjoyed acting and performed in numerous productions in Wilkes-Barre as well as York Little Theater. He enjoyed swimming and fitness activities at the York Jewish Community Center and was a member of the Tuesday Club at the JCC. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Gary Moses of Wilmington, DE, a daughter Shelley Shavel and husband Michael of Newtown and two grandchildren, Sara and Jason. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Ohev Sholom Congregation at Temple Beth Israel, 2090 Hollywood Drive, York, Pa. Burial will be in South Hill Hebrew Cemetery.
