Anne L. Ruth

Anne Louise (Dalby) Ruth, wife of Philip Ruth, died on May 22, 2023 surrounded by family at her home in York Township, after a short, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born January 26, 1944 in Lewistown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles (Buck) Dalby and the late Louise Dalby.

Survivors include her husband, Philip; her son, Daniel Duke and wife Kim; her two daughters, Karen Ruth and husband Matt Boyer, and Kimberly Welch and husband Todd; three grandchildren, Corey Duke (Allison), Bradley Duke (Amanda), and Peyton Taylor Welch; four great grandchildren, Lucas, Coleman, Bowman, and Jameson Duke; and three grand fur babies who always kept her warm, Lucy Ruth-Boyer, and Cooper and Berkeley Taylor Welch.

Anne was preceded in death by a brother, Charles (Son) Dalby, and a stillborn daughter, Jane.

She was a proud 1961 graduate of the former Chief Logan High School in Lewistown and returned to the area regularly for luncheons with her classmates. She loved retelling high school stories including the time she took an American Bandstand dancer to the junior prom.

Anne worked various credit and collection jobs around the York-area and inspired her children when she returned to school in 1995 and earned an associate degree in accounting.

After retiring in 2008, Anne spent her time traveling to Myrtle Beach and Penn State bowl games with her husband, teaching Sunday School, watching her favorite NFL teams and criticizing the refs, and being spoiled by her daughters.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Rd., Jacobus, PA, from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service immediately following the viewing at the church. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.
