Anna E. (Taylor) Wetzel, 87, of Homewood Home at Plum Creek Village, Hanover, died Saturday August 31, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Burnell M. Wetzel. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at St. Jacob’s Stone UCC Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville with her pastor the Rev. Barbara Caruana of Trinity Lutheran Church and Rev. Dr. Jason Leader of St. Jacob’s Stone UCC, officiating. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s Stone Church Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Wetzel was born on July 18, 1926 in Glenville, PA, a daughter of the late Clayton G. and Lucinda (Thoman) Taylor and was a step daughter of the late Evelyn L. (Drew) Taylor. She was a homemaker and had graduated from the York County Vo-Tech School of Nursing in 1990 as an LPN at the age of 64. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wrightsville, where she had sung on the church choir for many years and was active in the Meals on Wheels program. She was formerly of the Highmount area of York and resided at the Homewood Village since October 2012. Anna leaves three sons, Ronald B. Wetzel and his wife Lucy of Pittsburgh, Philip K. Wetzel and his wife Debra of Rowlett TX, Stephen A. Wetzel and his wife Catherine of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Paul Wetzel, Nathan Wetzel, Ben Wetzel, Eddie Pague and Steph Koppenhaver; two great grandchildren, Brenden and Katelyn; a sister, Violet Smith of Hanover, and a brother William L. Taylor of Elizabethtown. She was predeceased by three sisters, Romaine Shaffer, Florence Krebs and Mary Hughes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 243 Hellam St. Wrightsville, PA 17368 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2449 South Queen Street, York, PA 17402.
