Alan R. Thompson

Alan R. Thompson, 70, of West York, died of natural causes Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at his home. A viewing and a time of sharing memories for family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main Street Glen Rock, PA 17327. All other services will be at the convenience of the family. Alan was born on October 14, 1948, a son of the late Ellsworth H. “Bud” and Mildred A. (Smith) Thompson. He graduated in 1966 from Susquehannock High School and was self-employed, working in construction for most of his life and worked 18 years for Appleby Windows, York, where he was vice president of construction and services until 1998. He was a member of the Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Society. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was member of various hunting camps. He also played local baseball till he was about 26 years of age and ended up playing Fast Pitch Softball till he was 47 years old. He enjoyed many Fast Pitch Softball Tournaments and earned two MVP Trophies while playing. Alan leaves two sons, Michael Alan Thompson and Levi Alan Thompson both of York; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara A. Gamble, of Glen Rock and Vicki J. Hershey of York. He was predeceased by a daughter, Penny Lane Fourhman and by his brothers, James, William, Richard, Edward, Auburn “Abe”, C. Michael “Ike” and David Thompson.
