Bessie M. (Waltemyer) Sipe, 89, formerly of Red Lion, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at SpiriTrust Lutheran, Shrewsbury. She was the wife of the late Francis A. Sipe.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday August 31, 2018 at the Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Loganville, with Pastor Ben Godfrey and Pastor Rick Fischl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Sipe was born on February 3, 1929, in Springfield Township, a daughter of the late George Chester and Vernia I. (Keeny) Waltemyer.
She worked as a cafeteria employee at Winterstown Elementary School for 15 years and prior to that she worked for several local sewing companies as a seamstress. Mrs. Sipe was a member of Codorus Church of the Brethren. She was an avid crocheter, loved children, animals, and gardening.
She leaves two daughters, Darlene A. Keeney and husband Randy of Seven Valleys and Brenda L. Pickel and husband Daniel of Felton; nine grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen I. Doll of York, and Ruth M. Henry of Glen Rock. She was predeceased by a daughter, Judy M. Sipe; a sister Sarah Rodgers; and five brothers, James, George, Charles, John, and Russell Waltemyer.
